A charming vintage Provence oil landscape painting by the French artist Serge Borodzitch (1895 - 1966) dating from the 1960. The original country scenic wall art portrays a scenic view of the iconic Alphonse Daudet's stone windmill in Fontvieille, in southern France. The Provençal painting is set in a rocky scenery with bushes and trees. It has been painted in oils on stretched canvas and signed on the bottom right corner by the French artist S. Borodzitch. The painting has been mounted in a gray and gold tone wooden frame. The reverse side has been stamped with the artist's details. It will make a great addition to your Provence decor.
Hanging hardware is not included.

Alphonse Daudet (1840 - 1897) was a French novelist. In 1866, his Lettres de mon moulin (Letters from My Windmill), written in Clamart, near Paris, and alluding to a windmill in Fontvieille, Provence, won the attention of many readers. Symbol of the writer Alphonse Daudet and his work, the Moulin was built in 1815 and continued grinding during a whole century. During the 1st World War most men were drafted and the wheat was requisitioned. These events condemned definitively the windmill. In 1935 the association "Alphonse Daudet's friend" decided to restore it and create a museum dedicated to the author of the "Letters of my Windmill".

CONDITION:
The country landscape painting is in very good condition with light surface marks to the painted surface.
